Your Uniform Policy

Inspiration Academy (Y7-9)

At the Inspiration Academy (Y7-9), all young people will dress smartly and develop the shared identity of the Inspiration Academy. The decision has been taken with our governing body that students in Y7 – 9 will be expected to wear full academy uniform (from September 2020).

 

BOYS UNIFORM:

Please note that items marked with a * should be purchased from our uniform supplier: Brigade Clothing – http://www.brigadeuniformdirect.uk.com/

  • Blazer – black with Inspiration Academy badge.*
  • Trousers – black tailored (no skinny fit or jean style)
  • Shirt – plain white with optional short sleeve
  • Inspiration Academy Tie*
  • Jumper (optional) – black, v-necked with green trim*
  • Socks – grey or black
  • Shoes – The only acceptable footwear is plain, black, sturdy leather/leather like shoes with wide flat heels. Trainers, above ankle boots, platforms, sling-backs, open toe shoes and fabric shoes (e.g. Vans) are not permitted. Coloured stitching, coloured labels, logos and coloured laces are not permitted. Parents/carers are invited to send images of footwear to their Head of College should they need further advice. Plain black ‘Kickers’ style shoes/ankle boots are the only acceptable exception to the above rules. See below for some further guidance.

 

GIRLS UNIFORM:

  • Blazer – black with Inspiration Academy badge*

  • Skirt – stitched down black box pleat, minimum length 20”
  • Blouse – white short sleeve, revere collar,
  • Inspiration Academy tie (optional)*
  • Jumper (optional) – black, v-necked with green trim*
  • Socks – white or black
  • Tights – black or neutral
  • Shoes – The only acceptable footwear is plain, black, sturdy leather/leather like shoes with wide flat heels. NO NON-SCHOOL UNIFORM GARMENTS to be worn under blazers

NO COATS TO BE WORN IN THE ACADEMY BUILDINGS

NO SCARVES of any kind to be worn on the Academy premises

NO HATS / HEADWEAR (religious headwear excluded) may be worn on the Academy premises

NO TRAINERS are allowed to be worn in school except during PE

NO MAKEUP may be worn

NO NAIL VARNISH (except clear)

NO ACRYLIC/GEL NAILS

NO DENIM is acceptable in school

NO JEWELLERY apart from one pair of stud earrings in ear and a wristwatch may be worn. The Leigh UTC and Inspiration Academy takes no responsibility for lost/stolen/damaged jewellery.

Non-uniform items including jewellery may be confiscated, and these can be collected from the Academy office at the end of the day. Students bring such items entirely at their own risk and the Academy accepts no responsibility should it be damaged, lost or stolen. We ask that parents/carers write a note in the students planner to communicate to staff why the student is unable to wear the correct uniform on any given day.

For Sport and Leisure: 

  • Navy PE top with logo*
  • Navy Plain tracksuit bottoms or shorts*
  • Trainers
  • Sports Socks
  • Navy 1/4 zip sports top with logo*

For the Workshop: 

  • White lab coat with logo*
  • Safety specs
  • Appropriate protective footwear for the workshop
